Castle Zasmuky

THE CASTLE TODAY

The Castle of Zasmuky consists of five independent buildings. The main house is renaissance with later, baroque additions to the façade. It is connected to, what is known as the "small castle", by a floating bridge. The entrance tower is flanked by two wings on either side and a third wing juts out toward the village square. Two small, separate 17th century houses, so far un-repaired, are next to the small castle.

THE CASTLE IN 1992
We have been working on the rebuilding of Zasmuky, according to our possibilities, for the past twelve years. Some illustrations of what we were confronted with in 1992 when the state returned the property confiscated by the communist regime in 1948.

Repairing the Small Castle

In the park, near the main castle, there is an 18th century grotto which we are presently repairing. Also a modern heated prefabricated store room could, one day, serve as an indoor pool or tennis court. A certain distance away there are the farm buildings: three barns and a house.
